Six ways to find out where you actually stand

Seven areas each, four questions per area, and a rating on screen when you finish. Untick anything that does not apply and it is left out of the score rather than counted against you. The detailed PDF is optional, and it is the only part that asks for an email address.

Each answers a different question

There is no order to these and no reason to take more than one. Start with whichever question you already know the answer matters to.

AI Readiness

Whether an AI investment survives past pilot.

Strategy and sponsorship, use case suitability, data quality, data architecture, application and technology architecture, delivery capability, and AI governance and risk.

7 areas, 22 questions. Rated Exploring to Ready to Scale. Sits under AI & Automation.

Operating Model

Whether the business coordinates itself, or coordinates through you.

Decision rights and escalation, process ownership and handoffs, planning and cadence, role clarity, benefits realisation, change capability, and what reaches the board.

7 areas, 28 questions. Rated Improvised to Deliberate. Sits under Business & Operating Model.

Revenue Engine

Whether the spend is buying growth, or covering for a decision nobody made.

Positioning and proposition, segment focus, the pipeline model and its assumptions, the sales and marketing boundary, measurement and attribution, spend and agencies, and retention.

7 areas, 28 questions. Rated Undecided to Compounding. Sits under Product & Go-to-Market.

Agile Delivery

Not whether you run the ceremonies, but whether they change what ships.

Framework fidelity, flow and cadence, backlog and readiness, teams and dependencies, engineering practice, planning and funding, and measurement and improvement.

7 areas, 28 questions. Rated Ceremonial to Compounding. Sits under Business & Operating Model.

Security Assurance

Not whether you are secure, but whether you could show it.

Evidence position, regulatory obligation and scope, access and identity, third-party assurance, secure delivery, incident readiness, and governance and accountability.

7 areas, 28 questions. Rated Exposed to Demonstrable. Sits under Cyber Security & DevSecOps.

Procurement Maturity

Not whether you buy well on a good day, but whether the result is repeatable.

Spend visibility and classification, category strategy, supplier management and concentration, contract lifecycle and renewals, commercial capability, vendor and AI risk, and supply chain resilience.

7 areas, 28 questions. Rated Reactive to Strategic. Sits under Procurement & Supply Chain.

Not how well it works — whether it fits

The six above score something you already run. This one scores nothing. It asks ten questions about your conditions and tells you which ways of working those conditions support, which they would fight, and why.

Agile Framework Fit

Whether Scrum, Kanban or a scaled framework would survive contact with how you actually operate.

Team count and stability, how work arrives, item size, who can decide scope, whether a commitment survives the fortnight, cross-team dependency, release windows and the funding model.

Ten questions, no scope screen, no percentage. It is allowed to conclude that no framework will help yet, which is the answer for more organisations than the industry admits.

Find the fit
Worth Saying Plainly

A self-assessment is not evidence

Each of these is scored on the areas you choose, from answers one person gives on one day. That is genuinely useful for deciding where to look first, and it is not the same thing as having measured anything. Our full reviews put the same questions to the data, and the answer is frequently different.

Where the two disagree, the gap is usually the finding. A business that scores itself Structured and tests Straining is telling you something more useful than either number on its own.

The same for all six

You choose the scope

Seven areas, and you untick the ones that do not apply. Supply chain resilience is genuinely irrelevant to a services firm, and secure delivery is irrelevant if you build no software. Leaving an area out is more honest than scoring it badly, and it is left out of the score entirely rather than counted as a zero.

The answers are ordered, so the order is the score

Four questions per area, five answers each, running from the least mature to the most. There is no weighting behind the scenes and no adjustment you cannot see, which is why the result is a percentage of what you chose to assess rather than a mark out of a fixed total.

You see the result before we see anything

The rating, the band and the area-by-area breakdown all render on screen as soon as you finish. The PDF is the only thing that needs an email address, and the report is the same either way.

Where these sit

The practices behind them

Every assessment is the opening move of a discipline we lead. Each practice page sets out what it owns and what it will not do.

How an engagement opens

Leadership and delivery are quoted separately, and where we run a selection we exclude ourselves from the work it awards.

Who reads the result

The person who would lead the work, not an account manager. Named before anything is signed rather than after.

Or skip the scoring and just describe the problem

If you already know what is wrong and want to say it out loud to somebody who has fixed one before, that is a shorter route than any questionnaire.
